St. Kitts and Nevis announces “monumental” and “groundbreaking” changes to the citizenship by investment program

St. Kitts and Nevis

The unexpected afternoon announcement from the Caribbean sent shockwaves throughout the world of dual citizenship and investment migration.

Having just updated their CIP program in December 2022, now only 7 months later, the Kittian government announced the most comprehensive and substantial changes since the Caribbean Federation created the investment migration industry 40 years ago.

The newly updated CIP changes took effect immediately and included everything from investment minimums to document collection.

The newly updated CIP changes took effect immediately and included everything from investment minimums to document collection.

The new St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship by investment program provides 4 investment options:

Approved Private Home Option - Traditional home ownership possibilities
Developer’s Real Estate Option for property shares
The Sustainable Island State Contribution with a 7-pillar vision that is much more ESG-conscious and UN SDG-focused replaces the former The Sustainable Development Fund donation
Approved Public Benefit Project Option that directly supports the local community

The new CIP raises minimum investment requirements - in some cases doubling them - as well as adding additional application and security measures, including:

Property holds of 7-years
In-person or virtual interviews of investors
In-person pick up of citizenship documents
Using due diligence firms from the US, UK, and Europe

While the new program took effect immediately, only time will tell if the remaining Caribbean nations will follow suit and increase their minimum investment requirements as well.
